Today is officially the day that you toss your fruit cake out.  Yes, people do still give fruitcakes as a gift and I really do not know why.  Then the people that recieve this fruitcake will graciously accept it and put it out on the cupboard fully wrapped for the next week…basically as a decoration or a paper weight.  And then the day after  New Years when the tree is coming down and the decorations are being put away the fruitcake will be tossed out in the garbage.  So if you have that fruit cake….do not feel bad about getting rid of it because today is national fruitcake toss day….have fun!
